For the past five years, Dr. Kenneth Nahum has served as a hematology/oncology physician at Regional Cancer Care Associates in Howell, New Jersey, where he treats various cancers of the blood. Active in his medical specialty, Dr. Kenneth Nahum belongs to a number of related professional organizations, including the American Society of Hematology.
Earlier this year, the American Society of Hematology (ASH) continued to make good on its 2012 promise to help support ongoing research that faced an uncertain future because of funding being slashed at the National Institute of Health (NIH). Through the ASH Bridge Grant Program, the organization announced its eight funding cycle, hand out a total of $750,000 in grant funding that will be split across five different research trials. These trials show promise but are not funding by NIH dollars because of federal budget cuts.
In his comments, AHS President Kenneth C. Anderson, MD, underscored the importance of these grants in funding innovative research trials. Through the Bridge Grants initiative, ASH is able to spur further innovation and keep researchers going when NIH funding isn’t guaranteed, even for the most promising projects.
